Rid Your Body of Diseases, Here’s How to Detox Through Your Feet

The Center for Disease Control says that 85% of all illness is related to the toxins in our bodies. So it’s no wonder there’s now a substantial movement towards detoxification.

This treatment is pretty straightforward, just soak your feet with the right ingredients (see recipe below) mixed in an ionic foot bath.

Chinese medicine puts a claim on the fundamentals of how this works, but it’s more of a modern invention, to be honest.

Let me get something out of the way first, there is a lot of misinformation about ionic foot baths. Spas and other natural health websites claim that the water becomes brown or orange-brown because of the toxins eliminated, but this is misguided. The colored water is the result of a chemical reaction that creates rust.

To be more exact, there are two metal electrodes with a positive and negative current that when they come into contact with salt water, a chemical process called electrolysis occurs and this is why the electrodes start to rust.

That being said, this doesn’t mean that a salt detox bath doesn’t have a therapeutic effect worth undergoing. Some patients even use this to help with the negative side effects of chemo.

At a minimum, we need to take better care of our feet and this is perfect for relaxing those overworked muscles and tendons down there.

Salt Detox Bath Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup Himalayan salt
  • 1/4 cup Epsom salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup organic apple cider vinegar
Just mix these ingredients in hot water, but some people prefer to use an ionic foot bath.

Recommendations:
  • Use hot water instead of warm water to increase the effects.
  • If you’re going to use tap water it will have chlorine and fluoride in it that needs to be dealt with by adding 4-6 tablespoons of bentonite clay  to help absorb those toxic chemicals.
  • Don’t overdo it at first and ease into this practice with 10 minutes at first. You can eventually work your way up to 30 minutes.
